How The Armchair Investor Achieved Financial Freedom By Age 55 With Michael Dominguez
Have you gotten your shot yet?
I just did at a Costco Pharmacy! I was a bit early for my appointment, so they took me in early, and the pharmacist read me the side effects to expect.
I’m well informed on the subject as my dad is a doctor, and I follow several local ER, ICU, and Infectious Disease doctors on Twitter who share, unfiltered, what they see in their battle against this virus.
One of them is an old friend of mine, Sumon Charkrabati. We went to University and lived in residence together, so I know firsthand how smart he is. Now he’s on the local news all the time.

Here are their Twitter handles in case anyone is interested:

- Dr. Jennifer Kwan, a wizard with excel who posts stat graphs almost every day: @jkwan_md
- Microscope Samantha Yammine, Ph.D. (aka Science Sam): @heysciencesam
Anyways, I showed up about ten minutes early at the Costco Pharmacy and got my Astra Zeneca shot. I barely felt it, unlike the nose swabs for covid tests I’ve taken. I waited 15 minutes till they said I could go.
As soon as I got my shot, I got emotional and immediately started crying.
I don’t know what came over me, but I think it’s that the end is in sight. I know just a single shot is highly effective, and we’re one step closer to seeing our friends, family, clients, and staff again in person.
I cried even more, when the Costco cashier asked for payment for my $300 grocery bill. LOL.
I went a little overboard buying fresh salmon and ribeyes to smoke, three dozen chocolate croissants, a 5 litres of ketchup since I know I’m going to be living longer, there’s a chance of finishing the bottle ;).
It’s been almost 24 hours since my shot.
The only side effect to report is the injection site is mildly sore, and it’s so mild I don’t even notice it. I even rode my Peloton bike this morning without any problem.
If anyone is feeling hesitant about vaccines or Astra Zeneca’s vaccine, you’re not alone; I had questions too.
Here are some of the online resources I read. That and my father is a medical doctor, and my brother is a biologist on the far end of geeking out on the Coronavirus.
Resources:
- This is not the time to comparison shop for COVID-19 vaccines: https://www.theglobeandmail.com/opinion/article-this-is-not-the-time-to-comparison-shop-for-covid-19-vaccines/.

- Why comparing Covid-19 vaccine efficacy numbers can be misleading: https://www.vox.com/22311625/covid-19-vaccine-efficacy-johnson-moderna-pfizer.
So far, my mom, dad, stepmom, brother, sister and sister-in-law have all had at least one shot.
My mom is fully vaccinated, she lives in Hong Kong, China, and she legally hosted a birthday party with friends who’ve all been fully vaccinated, without masks, in her condo last weekend.
It goes to show what is possible with the proper response to covid.
Anyways, back to the subject of real estate, on Saturday morning, May 15th, is our monthly iWIN meeting.
This month we have James “Money Baggs” Maggs sharing how to purchase a foreign vacation property as he owns a condo near the beach in Costa Rica. I’m sure many Canadians are feeling the need to escape Canada these days.
Also, Real Estate Accountant Cherry Chan CPA. CA. will share how to deduct the interest expense from the mortgage on your home, aka the Smith Maneuver. It is a must-know money saving strategy for all investors of real estate, stocks, cryptocurrency, stock hacking, etc.
You don’t want to miss it.
If you’re on my email list, you’ll receive invites once registration opens. To receive my totally free newsletter that tens of thousands of Canadian investors already receive, go to www.truthaboutrealestateinvesting.ca.
How The Armchair Investor Achieved Financial Freedom By Age 55 With Michael Dominguez
This week we have my old friend Michael Dominguez as our guest.
He’s here to share his journey and lessons in his accumulation of 11 duplexes and a couple of apartment buildings.
I know we’ve had some past guests share aggressive, full-time, active investing strategies, so it’s a nice change to hear from someone who relied on investing smart and letting time invested in the market do all the heavy lifting for him.
Michael is here to share how he obtained financial freedom and not so fun experiences with tenants, explaining how he shaped his portfolio.
He’s also a serial investor with multiple streams of income beyond real estate, which has enabled Michael to pursue his dream of road tripping in his convertible and taking in a baseball game at all 30 major league baseball stadiums.
Michael also spent the pandemic, after recovering from the Coronavirus, writing a book called “Armchair Real Estate Millionaire” meant for the beginner investor.
Enjoy the show!
